And yes you would use a primer coat and acrylic lacquer to finish the drums. Your choice of color followed by a coat of clear lacquer for a high gloss. Pep Boys ,Home Depot or hardware store
etc. All these are spray paintsWhat is the process to paint my drum kit? I have 2 wood shells, and one is like acrylic/plastic.?
Ive done this myself, remove any plastic wrapping and sand the shell so its smooth, remove any dust from the shell with a rag, buy a 2-pak primer (etch primer) and apply 2 coats, once the primer is dry sand it back a bit with 1800 grit sandpaper

continued.. once that is done, buy some 2-pak paint in any colour you want, apply three coats, leave an hour gap in between each coat, once that is done and u r happy with it so far, buy some reducer and rub it around the shell until the finish is starting to look really smooth

once you have applied the hardener and its all dry, the last step is to get like car polish or something and polish the whole shell, whether that be manually or with a buffing grinder. and there u have it, a sweet looking finish that will last you a lifetime
