Can you use acrylic paints for water color?

Or is there a certain type of paints you have to buy? I haven't done this in a long time. Trying to remember thanksCan you use acrylic paints for water color?
You can use acrylics in the manner of watercolor, with similar effects, by thinning them down a LOT with water.

The difference is that the acrylics are always going to dry into a plastic film, even when watered down considerably. So you won't be able to do a lot of the lifting/blending/rewetting or edge-softening techniques you'd be able to do in watercolor.

On the plus side, though, acrylic watercolors are pretty much waterproof. Can you use acrylic paints for water color?
