What are your techniques for painting clouds in acrylic or oil?

With oils, I lay the canvas on a flat surface then spread turpentine on it very copiously like you would do for a water color painting, then I wash in the clouds and let them form for themselves. Then I look it over and see what stands out best in the cloud shapes that are most pleasing to me and go about highlighting them as it calls for. Of course that's the very first objects I personally place in a landscape so I have a lot of room to maneuver whatever comes up anyway I see fit.

With acrylics I use the same method as water colors... just wash them in and watch what happens. Don't try working on your painting too soon though, wait for the work to dry first or you might end up with mud.

I work on three of four canvases at a time, so I don't mind the waiting so much. I always have something I can turn to, to keep me busy and that way time flies by and before I know it it's dry and ready for me to get back on it again. What are your techniques for painting clouds in acrylic or oil?
Lay in the cloud in shape that you want in a light color. Then press in the shadow with a gray hue of any color. Last add highlight with a very light and bright color where you want the sun to be hitting it. Do Not just use white for this. And next time use your real picture. What are your techniques for painting clouds in acrylic or oil?
Hah - all these answers are going to confuse you more.

I work wet-in-wet with acrylic. Leaving the light-value area blank, I start with the darker colour at the base and work up to the lightest value so that white or almost-white are my last strokes.
in acrylic : at first make a clear sketch and spray some water on the canvas and wipe out the excess water from th canvass and slowly add colour on the canvass and allow to spread the paint.
