Is it possible to be allergic to acrylic?

i recently bought a beanie and wore it to school. my forehead started to itch and i broke out into a rash with hives. could i be allergic to it? what should i do?Is it possible to be allergic to acrylic?
Definitely. Acrylic is a synthetic fiber that is petroleum based. All evidence that is coming out now is that most man made products (or all in my opinion) are bad for the environment and bad for people's health. Synthetic materials can also be irritating to the skin because they don't let the skin breathe, (this includes polyester too). Try buying products that are made of organic or all natural materials, Organic is really best, because if something is labeled as just all natural, it means it was still raised in pesticides and other harmful chemicals, and has also probably been doused in toxic dyes. Not to mention that there is no regulation on products that simply claim to be ';all natural';. Most people don't know, but the pesticides that are used today were originally created during WWII as nerve agents against the enemy. Anyway, excuse the side information, but that is what I would recommend, also possibly returning the beanie or giving it away if you can't use it.
