How can I get rid of a bad smell of a Jacket that is 80% acrylic and 20% Polyester?

My new jacket is starting to smell like smoke because of the places I visit. How might I get rid of the smell without paying for dry cleaning?





I also heard I could put it on the top rack of my dishwasher and do an Air dry.. or something like that- is this true?

I would hang it outside to get the smell out. You could always spray Febreeze on it and then hang it outside to dry.

Acrylic should be machine washable. Most of the time it is. Check the label. if it just says ';Dry clean only'; then a delicate wash should be fine. Any honest dry cleaners will tell you that most ';dry clean only'; clothes can be washed on a delicate wash now and again. of course none of them will actually admit that.





Put it on a cool, delicate wash with a small amount of detergent and a little softener/conditioner if you want. Make sure that the spin speed is as low as possible. Air dry on a door or outside.
