How about the web in your mind? To be an artist is to explode with your inner energies and ideas. Tap into them by thinking about what excites or disturbs you and expressing that feeling in paint, either expressionistically, or realistically using subject matter to express your point of view. Clearing the cobwebs is not always easy but once done, it gets easier each time as you probe and release how you feel about your world and its wrongs and rights.
