Are there any side effects to acrylic nails?

I have bitten and v. short nails and want to get some fake ones to stop my bad habit once and for all.


Are fake nails bad for you?

My experience with fake nails was that they made my real nails very soft. When the fake ones are taken off your reals nails are soft like baby turtle shells. My mother had a bad experience with them in that she ended up with a nail fungus on her real nails from the fake ones.





I used to bite my nails too. I quit by just making sure I wore nail polish all of the time. Then when I'd go to bite my nails I'd remember that I didn't want to swallow nail polish.Are there any side effects to acrylic nails?

But you need to get them filled





If you dont you can get an infection in your nail.





This is only because once the nail gets loose from your nail bed water and bacteria can go under the acrylic and build up and cause infection.








If you take care of your nails that wont happen and if it does its easy to treat.
They ruin your real nails. They make them very very frail and brittle and not strong. i use to get them does years and years ago, and still to this day my nails are still not the same. Fake nails look good when you have them done. But think about the long term effects that it will have on your real nails...unless you plan on having fake nails forever.
They are expensive-you have to spend about $20 every 2 weeks to get them filled, and the worst part..they really f'up your're real nails..so if you ever take em off..you're real nails will be very brittle and weak..but i love having them..i just cant afford them right now.
My best friend has gotten acrylics many time but the most recent time she got a fungus of a sort in her nail. They were green spotted for a while. I think she just left them on too long though.
not really, but they can make the area around the nail kinda soft so it hurts more if you wack your finger on a desk or get a paper cut or something...
yaa faje nails r rlly bad for u it takes off the top layer of ur nails and they will grow much much slower
